Often your best thoughts are put out because somebody else says something in a way causes discussion to start. I was just commenting on bigminh's blogger page & it hit me right there while I typed away in response to her post. Talking about the big influences of relationships and morality come & go like the tides of the oceans. For some reason I felt comfortable laying out my opinion that people abuse the words love & hate. I ended up expanding upon it. I started discussing the subjectivity of morality. The worst actions are generally agreed upon but good conduct is constantly fought over. The impermanence of human relationships seemed like a good continuation point. I wasn't entirely thinking of impermanence in terms of separation because of conflict. I certainly mentioned that what brings people together also can drive them apart. Mostly I think about how people drift in and out of each others lives. Somebody could be in your life for only a few months but that person could change your life & perspective forever. Often when people leave each others company they pleasantly say that they'll see each other again. It's not that they don't mean it, just that living everyday in a separate place causes the mind to wander away from thinking of other friends/family in other cities because it interferes in the living of right now.
Bottom line, appreciate the good times you have together with people that you care about because you, or forces outside yourself could always cause you to be separated from them.
when i wrote my piece i was referencing the fact that nikki and i had a history of hearing 'i love you' from people using it wrongly.
ReplyDeletehence it was in quotations. its understandable that you would misinterpret it because it was a piece written for nikki. =)
