It's not really a dilemma at all.
1. I'm just pondering in my head whether to draw or plan a painting tomorrow
2. Watch a movie or a few movies, something I love doing but haven't had any chance to do
3. Chill with cousins (Most likely to happen but probably in the evening)
4. Sleep in (This will happen mostly because I haven't been able to do this in a long time)
I'm disappointed in myself because I totally tanked in the math I was taking. I'll have to take it again at a later point. I know that I can understand the material. Crunched time and my lack of proficiency in math test taking must be overcome next go around. I really need to pore over my notes from this instructor and know the principles in the examples he gave really well before even attempting to have another go. Sometimes I feel like I'll never get anywhere and that the achievement of qualifications for various higher studies are designed to dissuade people from wanting to go further in their learning. I'm sure there might be something to that argument. Maybe I'm getting cynical about the whole student experience. I love learning though. The inability to learn at the pace that's expected of you is amazingly frustrating to me. I like doing things for myself too. It's not that I'm against help. It's just that scheduling is an obstacle to learning with help that easily annoys me.
There's lots of movies that I wanna see in a variety of genres. hmmm....500 days of Summer, Ponyo, District 9 (the director Neil Bloomkamp was supposed to direct the movie version of HALO but when that fell apart directed this instead with producer Peter Jackson. I could totally see some of the effects in District 9 as very HALOesque), The Ugly Truth, G.I. JOE (oh, I thinkcartoon nostalgia will hit me again) Funny People, Julie and Julia, The Time Traveler's Wife (Rachel McAdams is built for epic love stories), The Goods (a comedy that looks absolutely awesome), Bandslam, FAME (sue me, it looks good and I'm sometimes a sucker for a dance movie or musical), Oh and Paper Heart starring was it Charlene Yi and Michael Cera looks very promising. Every time Michael Cera's in a movie somebody around me says it's JUNOesque but I don't see any similarities in most of his movies beyond the fact that most of them are supposed to be in a "real" world as opposed to something very movie like in setting and the way characters speak.
I suppose that I've been babbling for too long. Time for me to SHUT THE FUCK UP and quote Jim Carrey in the Truman Show as I like to do and say "Good Morning, and in case I don't see you Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night"
great, now i want to watch the truman show.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's unfortunate that you are not really allowed to "learn at your own pace" in academia. Just because it might take you twice as much time to learn a particular concept than it takes some people, that doesn't mean that you can't ultimately master that subject more than people who were able to grasp he basics of the subject more quickly.
ReplyDeleteIn the world of academics, you need to be able to learn something within fixed period of time or suffer the consequences.
