I got plenty Penis and GAY-torade for you all

most of the more juvenile drawings, stick men, penises...actually drawn by my cousin Ehren, who's only 3 months younger than me, hah hah. OK, I technically drew ummm penis Island. He was guiding my hand. I serious drew in the urine drops since I was joking. I drew the top of the bottle in the bottom drawing too. My cousin drew in the "Gay-torade" section of the bottle. Yeah, those parts weren't me. I just had paper. You know, nothing against gayness or penises (I do have one :-P) they're just not my typical subject matter.

I quite like the small bit that I was able to draw in pen of my other cousin Melissa. Wish I was able to get all of it. It was shaping up to be a very nice quick sketch of her. There's always another chance to get in some sketching of cousins. The struggle to be able to draw hands, even my own, like in the image above, continues indefinitely. I never know precisely how to balance the level of detail, stylization, and giving visual weight when I'm drawing hands or feet. I do them either too detailed/too cartoony, or too heavy/weightless....This is my eternal artistic frustration. What's yours my readers?

Tomorrow morning, I just need to clean up some of the colors with white patches and smears of other colors plus darken up some black pupils in my mass of eyeballs. Oh, if it's not clear. I'm talking about my latest painting that I'm nearly finished. I thought I was finished already but instead I just let it sit for a few days. Tonight, I happened to notice some imperfections that I can't forgive, seeing how I am the artist. I don't expect anybody else to get it.

I don't like explaining my artistic intentions or art in person. I also really get peeved when other people say that their interpretation of what I've done is what I said was the subject matter. I think I've mentioned this before but I'll say it again even with the risk of repeating myself. Once you pair an unrelated piece of imagery with your own or somebody elses words, it changes the meaning of the imagery and vice versa. If a piece of writing has imagery created for it, it should be specifically made as an illustration solely for that purpose of showing something in that novel, story, movie, music, etc...

I'm stuffed right now. My Dad had a potluck tonight for his poetry friends at our house tonight and I've eaten much too much.

P.S. been meaning to experiment with a few different visual styles while drawing. Does anybody have any interesting images that they don't mind me using as a start point for some drawing experimentation? It's cool if the images are on photobooth, flikr, myspace, facebook etc. I can get to the ones you're talking about provided they're viewable by all. If it's cool, tell me an e-mail address too so that I could send you the visual results.
