Summer painting '09

My cousins from Regina, Saskatchewan went home today. Apparently their plane was delayed until about 1pm today or about 4 hours ago. The flight from Vancouver to Regina's only 3 hours but they have a stop over for a few hours that was apparently delayed as well (I didn't do this post in one go)

Anyways, I started a new painting today. I actually sketched out my subject matter several days ago but I just started painting again this morning. It's really comforting for me to be creating a new visual. It's always been a great way for me to relax and focus. I decide the subject matter, the colors, everything about it. I sketched out the subject matter from various items around the house. I made them all a bit more fantastic by putting eyes onto a large amount of these found objects around the house. I did think about some of the colors a few days ago though. It's shaping up really nicely.

I'll post up the different stages of me working through the painting once I'm finished.

I'd actually really like to do a painting from direct observation but it's hard because I can't really move a lot of my art stuff easily. Hell, I'd even really enjoy doing a portrait of somebody sitting right there rather than working from a picture (again, something I actually really enjoy doing, just saying it would be nice for a change of pace) Yeah, can't really rope any family or friends to sit for me. I wouldn't even ask anybody to do any poses. I'd say to just be as they are, but in a pose that's really comfortable for them.

Well, I need to continue digesting the burger and fries (accidentally spilled seasoning salt all over them, not a good thing :-P) that I had from Fatburger about 2 hours ago. If a place is called Fatburger, you're gonna be extremely full afterwards.
