"and a Jay-Z song was on"
That's right. I quoted "Party in the U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus
What's your favorite Jay-Z song? I think that my favorite is "Encore" because it was the perfect song to call it a career when he was saying that he was retiring. I appreciate it even more now because it was the start of his heavy use of live instruments in his songs.
This song would be at the top of my list for his songs. The other 2 would be "I just wanna love you (Give it to me)" and "99 problems". "I just wanna love you" because it's one of the best party songs I've ever heard and it's actually quite sarcastically hilarious.
"99 problems" is brilliant to me because in it he mentions so many issues and problems with North America and he does it in grand style with his trademark witty, funny rhymes. It has an unflinching aggressiveness in its beats. Jay-Z is both deadly serious about what he's talking about in it but he still consciously decide to make it intelligently humorous and thought provoking.
I'm going to have to put his new single "Empire State of Mind" featuring Alicia Keys onto my list of my top Jay-Z tracks too. What did I forget. Oh, the pure hilariousness of "Girls, Girls, Girls". If you don't see the humour of that track, you have no business being my friend, hah hah.
I feel an affinity with Jay-Z cuz we're both born on December 4. I used to feel an affinity with Tyra Banks but she's been getting increasingly bizarre and crazy lately
I might not be kidding about the "Girls, Girls, Girls" thing :-P
