Today I noticed a young woman. Yes, for the usual reasons of her catching my eye whilst I was otherwise reading the introduction to Evelyn Waugh's A Handful of Dust. It makes me snicker inside to know he was a man named Evelyn, married to a woman named Evelyn. His wife eventually cheated on him. I'm getting off topic.
This young woman sprinted to run down to the bus stop area. I thought to myself, why the hell would you sprint down for the bus. There's no point in running until you're near the exit of the train station. I'd excuse and rationalize behaviour like that on rainy days. Today has chilly, crisp, cold air but otherwise it's absolutely beautiful. She sat on the seat in front of me on the bus. Another woman that seemed to be a friend or work colleague of hers sat beside her. I'd overheard the woman that ran from the train saying that she saw the bus therefore she ran down. The odd thing is that the bus was at the stop where it DROPS people off at that train station. The driver usually takes a short break of 2-3 minutes prior to pulling up ahead to the stop where the driver would PICK UP people that have just got off the train.
I recognize that this is a rant but I think that it's really irrational to run from your train station stop above (Vancouver has a monorail system called Skytrain) in order to get down to the bus stop below when the drivers of aforementioned buses are likely to wait for their buses to fill up anyways before leaving the station.
This communitychannel video came into mind when thinking about today. Pretty sure I've talked about using transit before but there was a slight difference today. Oh well, having material derivative of myself was bound to happen eventually
