a point form update on my distractions of late.
1. Commuting via public transit aka trains and buses, often in heavy rain
2. the various assorted works of William Shakespeare for a course.
3. A Canadian Literature course - 2 novels, and 4 short stories down so far in the 1st 2 weeks of Classes.
4.Watched The Bucket List and really enjoyed it. It's that movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as two men, both suffering from Cancer, and both given 6 months to a year to live. It's actually very funny and heartwarming.
5. CHUCK SEASON 3 - I LOVE THIS SHOW from Josh Shwartz, the Creator of The O.C. and perhaps unfortunately Gossip Girl. Actually both Chuck and Gossip Girl debuted the same season after the end of the O.C., imo this comedy-action quasi spy show spoof is much better than Gossip. It has that Seth Cohen, geeky sense of humor.
6. American Idol and the Pants on the Ground MANIA, I LOVE IT. don't judge me :-P
7. Season DVD watching of CHUCK Season 2 and Smallville Season 7 and 8. Smallville is a show that I remember enjoying quite a bit but I dropped off on because some episodes were getting a bit stupid. I caught some of the recent new episodes and was surprised how much better they were now. Not to mention how steeped in DC comics lore the show is now. These seasons are what the fans that dropped off on the show got impatient with in the earlier seasons.
8. Twitter - If U don't use it. It might be a bit late to ask. I"m somewhat addicted to it.
9. FRESH SLICE PIZZA. If anybody ever finds themselves in Vancouver. Please go and get yourself a box of an assortment of their delectably tasty Pizzas.
Nine seems like an odd number to end on. oh well. later.
I watched Smallville for about 2 years before I lost the motivation the watch each week to keep up with the continuing story lines ( This was before I had a DVR to record stuff ). I was mostly interested in seeing how Clark and Lex's relationship evolved from "friends" to "arch-enemies". By the time I stopped watching, things were starting to move a bit in the "arch-enemies" direction, but it was taking too long for my liking. I wonder if they've even gotten to that point now? I also heard that a Lois Lane character was introduced. I don't think I'm too crazy about that idea. It seems like too much of a violation of the Superman canon.
ReplyDeleteGod, it been on for 9 years? Geez, how old is Tom Welling now? 50?
Wow, I just checked IMDB and I see that Lex and Lana are no longer even on the show. I wonder how they wrapped those story lines up?
Speaking of Lana, as a father of half-Asian kids, it kind of bothers me that they cast somebody half-Asian as Lana, but pretended that she wasn't Asian at all. In the first episode they tell the story about how her parents died in the meteor shower, and they presented both her parents as Caucasian. I remember thinking, "With the last name 'Lang' they could have legitimately portrayed her Dad as being Asian".
